We have to send the database to the Student Union by early next week. In case you are not sure in any text field, just put “n/a”.Your time is highly appreciated.ONLINE MEMBERSHIP FORM (less than five minutes)

    To MUBSS:
My name is Irwin Kula and I am the President of Clal, a think tank on religious pluralism (www.clal.org). In partnership with Craig Hatkoff, founder of the Tribeca Film Festival and Chairman of Turtle Pond publications, we are working on a project under the umbrella of the Clinton Global Initiative to design a web 2.0 platform that aggregates religious and spiritual practices across all major religious traditions. The practices and rituals will be organized around the “purpose” or “job” the practice gets done for the practitioner and will be offered in accessible and usable ways to anyone seeking to improve their own lives. Users of the platform will be able to access wisdom and practices either through their particular religious tradition or via the particular need being met. Social networking technology will be used to enable people to organize around genuine needs, share their own practices, and customize existing religious and spiritual practices. The initiative, Disruptive Spiritual Innovation, is based on the work of Harvard Business Professor Clayton Christenson on Disruptive Innovation.

We will be coming to Melbourne from December 4th – 9th for the Parliament of World Religions and are hoping to record the practices of as many participants from as many religious traditions as possible.

We are seeking volunteers over Dec, 4-9 for a minimum of 8-10 hours to shoot short videos – one to two minute clips on flip cameras – of religious and spiritual leaders presenting spiritual practices. Volunteers will interview participants asking them to explain a practice they engage in and would like to share with the global community, the purpose of the practice, how the practice is done, and how they know the practice works. In return, volunteers will receive entry into the Parliament, as well as a HDflip camera to keep, and meals while they are working.

I hope I am not being too forward, but obviously the University of Melbourne MUBSS is a natural place in Melbourne for us to find the best volunteers. If there is any way you can publicize this among students in your student union, I would be very appreciative. Anyone, whatever their religious or non-religious orientation is welcome to volunteer. One just needs to enjoy using (or learning how to use) the flip, talking to, and filming interesting people.

Of course, if this is at all interesting to you, I would be delighted to speak with you and answer any questions you may have. I can be reached at ikula@clal.org
    Thank you.

    Respectfully,

    Irwin Kula
