Short History of MUBSS
In 1992, a small group of about six Malaysian first-year students studying at the University of Melbourne started what is still known as the Melbourne University Buddhist Studies Society (MUBSS). Even though a separate student Buddhist society was founded a few years earlier, this has proved to be the most enduring.
Melbourne University Buddhist Studies Society (MUBSS) is a non-sectarian club which means we represent all traditions of Buddhism, such as Theravada, Mahayana, Tibetan, Zen, Nichiren etc. We meet up regularly for social lunches, dhamma discussions, weekly meditation sessions, temple visits or retreats, amongst other activities.

You can be a part of MUBSS in one of 3 ways:
(a) Join the MUBSS committee
(b) Join MUBSS as a member
(c) Join only MUBSS yahoo group email list: mubss_members@yahoogroups.com
(if you are already not a member of this email list)
Membership fee is
- free, if he/she is a member of UMSU, or
- $2 per person, if he/she is not an UMSU member.
If you join MUBSS by paying the membership fee of $2 now, and later on if you join UMSU, then the MUBSS membership fee of $2 will be refunded.

Please meet any MUBSS executive committee member during any upcoming MUBSS event to pay your membership fee of $2 (if you are not a member of UMSU). Invitation to join the MUBSS committee
As we start the year we are looking for new members who are keen to help out with the planning and organisation of club activities. At the annual general meeting (AGM), the current committee will be handing over their duties to a new committee to carry on MUBSS. Being on the committee is a great opportunity to be closely involved in what MUBSS offers, make friends, and add a new dimension to your University experience.
