Short History of MUBSS
In 1992, a small group of about six Malaysian first-year students studying at the University of Melbourne started what is still known as the Melbourne University Buddhist Studies Society (MUBSS).
In 2004, since the Hony President and team had to relocated to a different location, MUBSS was paralysed, then in 2006 two students rejuvanted the society and was reaffliated to the Melbourne University Student Union. Now MUBSS is a highly recongized society in the University of Melbourne fabric. Now the society is run by Asian and non-Asian students, and it has become a universal society.
Melbourne University Buddhist Studies Society (MUBSS) is a non-sectarian club which means we represent all traditions of Buddhism, such as Theravada, Mahayana, Tibetan, Zen, Nichiren etc. We meet up regularly for social lunches, dhamma discussions, weekly meditation sessions, temple visits or retreats, amongst other activities.
